HELP!! idk about his mixed signals!!?

We seen each other around campus I eventually gave him my number then we had 2 cute dates couldn't have too many we stayed n diff cities 30 mins away during school and he told me he liked me then the semester ended he went back to his hometown a 2hr drive away and stop txtn me as much or would txt me and take hours to txt back or never reply at all and then his job has him travelling in diff states all summer but when he does txt me its always cute and that he likes me and wants me to wait for him til he comes back next semester. but then I don't hear from him. I have no clue what to think or what to do. Does he really like me or is he just wasting my time? Should I jus stop talking to him?
