How long does it take for a cold sore to go away?

At the moment it's just like a little bump on my lip that is beginning to form a little tiny bit of a scab. =\ I need it gone in preferably 2 days, but 5 days at the most.. I've been taking 2 L-Lysine 500mg tablets a day and a couple of Vitamin C tablets too because I heard they help. I've also tried some of these home remedies I heard of like putting nail polish on it (I haven't gotten any in my mouth so it's safe) as well as mouthwash or toothpaste because that is meant to dry it out. I know you could also use alcohol but I don't really have any seeing I'm 15 haha.. And I've also been using Campho-Phenique which is a prescribed cream thing for cold sores. And also apparently putting ice on it for 5 minutes 6 times a day helps, so I've done that too haha.. Anyways, how long should it take to go away? And are there any other things I could do to speed up the process or just get rid of it before it actually scabs properly?
